[Magdalen] Milo again

All over... Milo passed away, right here at home. I'm so glad that I didn't
leave him at the animal hospital to be on a drip; it wouldn't have helped
him or even eased his suffering, and he would not have been with us at the
end.

We managed to keep him hydrated overnight with little squirts of water from
a syringe, and the injection stopped the vomiting. This morning he was
worse (weaker) so I just sat with him, then as the sun warmed up outside,
took him out for a last sunbathe - his favourite "activity". Evan had got
up by then and sat with him, talking to him and stroking him...He got up,
walked a few shaky steps, wagged his tail, and then keeled over. We
brought him back inside and made him comfortable, about 10 minutes after
that he was gone.

A dear little dog and considerate to the last, even last night he still
made it outside to pee.

Our puppy Gryffin is settling beautifully and even managed to sleep outside
last night, allowing Milo the space he needed inside.

We are sad but not as sad as we were yesterday. The timing of everything
had much of grace in it; that it didn't happen when our house sitters were
here, that we could be with him, and that the children are on holiday from
school. Also that Gryffin is here to keep Chipo company and to comfort us
with puppy love.

It's time to go and make a donation to Animal Welfare...we found Milo there
seven and a half years ago and today he went back there to be cremated. I
hope it's been a better life than he would have had if we hadn't chanced to
go in that day and found him there.

Thank you all for your prayers...

Sally D
