Metal roofs are quite popular here in the North Country (we have one), but
mainly because the snow slides off them easily.
Since metal conducts heat much better than do asphalt shingles (or other
non-metals), I doubt it that by itself will save you heat. Probably depends
more on what's immediately below the metal roof.

I'm wondering if my new metal roof will save heat this winter. I had to
break down and re-roof because the original asphalt roofing dated from
1987 and was showing its age.
I decided to do the metal routine, even though more expensive and
obviously something that will "outlive" me at 77. The color chosen was
a milk chocolate brown to match the black coffee brown of the house.
Keep tuned. Time will tell.
