[Magdalen] Wildlife ID, please

Outward bound on Whitevale Rd, fortunately  I did not hit a critter that 
made a dash across the road in front of me with it seemed like a dark 
nut in its mouth.  It was somewhere between the size of a chipmunk and a 
red squirrel -- and it was pure white, except for a black nose and maybe 
black ears.  I thought it looked like an ermine, but surely they are 
rather bigger?
