My wife was in a situation where she had a lot of seniority at her
workplace, and the new boss of the enterprise started out by inviting both
of us for dinner, and we had a wonderful evening. Fast forward a couple of
years, and he is writing very negative evaluations of her, which she sat in
his office, refuting, point by point. Knowing my spouse, I know she put
heart and soul into her work, and did the best possible.

So when an opportunity opened up at another workplace, she grabbed it.

Her boss seemed pleased when she gave her notice. She figured that he was
working with the board of trustees in a deliberate act to get the person
with seniority to move on.

And the real sign of her value was when she started to get phone calls from
others at the workplace, not sure how to do certain procedures. Even though
they were specifically given a direct order not to contact her. "I'm the
institutional or corporate memory there," she observed.

It wasn't personal; he simply wanted to move the high earning person out.
And this is why the country is going under. Sad. And utterly inevitable
now. Morality has no place in the workplace anymore, except in some
private mom and pop enterprises that have managed to stay under the
take-over-everything-and-ruin-it corporate radar.

So General is just another biz...
