We have stone with six of us -- Mom and Dad with birth and death years,
plus my
two sisters and Albert and I>>>

The family plots share one stone, a monolithic chunk of
polished red granite from Saint Cloud, MN with only the
family name on front and back. It was placed there by
my father about 1915, and betrays his love of both polished
stone and the color red. He seems to have become attracted
to rich building stones by watching the construction of the Wisconsin
State Capitol in Madison which is particularly well-embellished with
strongly colored stone, including a zone beneath the dome
consisting of polished red marble from Algeria.

The family plots are about 150 feet from that of the most famous
person in the cemetery: Olive Fremstad, Metropolitan Opera
soprano. Legend has it that a single rose appears on her grave on
the anniversary of her birth each year
