Could you have a friend drive you to get a battery and then back home to put it in? Sure would be a lot cheaper than a tow!

I went back in and asked if I could leave her overnight, and was told yes, but the clerk who'd just checked me out and who'd just closed up for break, came out and jumped me, bless his heart. But both he and the Regular Homeless Guy w/ Corona the Pit Bull concurred that it was the smidge of white corrosion I had on the positive pole. It wasn't much. I'm still skeptical. But I came home and (as per instruction) created a sludge of water and baking soda, and scrubbed it all around with an old toothbrush, seemingly getting rid of the corrosion (it was getting dark) and leaving a layer of it till morning to continue to eat away till said morning when I rinse it off. Both clerk and Homeless Guy assure me that will fix the problem. I'm nonetheless willing to switch my approved Friday vacation day for tomorrow, if I need to have the b****** towed to the mechanic.
