It is, therefore, too bad that few in TEC get familiar with those 
memorable cadences.  
 
On the subject of archaic English, I was always amused that the
Tridentines would read the scripture lessons for the day (after  having
chanted them in Latin) in Elizabethan English.  They couldn't  quite
bring themselves to use contemporary English.  There was a  feeling
among them that up-to-date English "cheapens" the scripture.
