I'm thinking the adventure was actually the following night (Saturday) and
made attendance at a Sunday service nearly impossible. We did get out in
time to see choirs proceeding out of both the cathedral and St Alban's
nearby,  during a full peal attempt by the cathedral bell ringers. Mark
said, "It's an Anglican theme park!" :)
