[Magdalen] Junk

Reading about politics, once again, brought up a certain politician who
became famous for sending pictures of his "junk" to his mistress. At the
time, I wondered, but never asked, how come male parts previously called
"family jewels" in my generation became "junk" to younger folk.

I wonder if this came from the black world and, if so, wonder why whites
and blacks came up with words so opposite,

Can anyone enlighten me?
