Update concerning  "Marion's Church""

This past Sunday we read out another letter from our Area Bishop saying 
that we have been issued with a full-time priest for two years starting 
the end of June.  Make or break it time!  It is recognized that we are a 
strong presence in our area through the Food Bank, but, of course, it's 
all about the money, so we have to increase our revenue and get out of 
the deficit position.  Trouble is that if we packed the church to the 
rafters with our neighbours it wouldn't necessarily translate into  
being in the black.  Anyway, we shall see.  The person  running the Food 
Bank is stepping away after 13 years and the long-time volunteers also 
stop.  A small group of us have been shad.owing the operation and will 
really give it the old college try.  Our bookkeeper has also stepped 
down and we have a new face for that job.  Not a great loss.

So times of change for sure.  Our only sorrow is that we will lose our 
wonderful interim priest who has been absolutely wonderful in all 
respects.  That, I believe, will help people accept our new f.t. fellow, 
having had such a refreshing experience for a change.  The new man is 
known to me, as he was the celebrant at my sister-in-law's funeral in 
November.  A seasoned veteran whose previous parish was merged with that 
church and who has been languishing rather as an associate priest 
there.  More ominously, of course, is the Bishop's observation of his 
experience in merging!

Anyway, we have had a stay of execution and where there's life there is 
hope!
