[Magdalen] Dick's Farewell.

Hmm. I wonder -- if we were to move the context to Israel (setting aside
all other political considerations, of course) -- if one would see arrows
pointing to the left as moving forward, since their written word goes right
to left.

There's no rational reason to see a right-pointing arrow as moving forward,
but that our language moves left to right (today, anyway. Some early
biblical Mss are boustrophedonic -- written as the ox plows, that is, going
right to left and then in the next line, left to right, etc. They didn't
invent the idea; the Hittites (clever folks) did the same. The main reason
we today tend to see a left-to-right arrow as "progress" is purely related
to our assumptions about writing.

If Bernie were able to get the nomination, it would be interesting.
Although I am sure Hil would bring a heck of a lot more skills to the Oval
Office, she has been a lightning rod for all sorts of negativity too.
While it's obvious that many (most?) anti-Hil folks are just unable to
tolerate a woman of power and skill (they will never forgive her for being
uppity), We have not yet developed a process for throwing out votes of the
unqualified (any who would base their vote on such rubbish), so the bigots
and sexist hicks get to vote too -- for the time being.

It's especially tragic that while most know Hil's skills, they don't seem
to get it that she is also a woman of grace and character. The
professional swiftboater jerks have made Hil look bad (e.g., just like
them).
