Many of you know I had an aggressive squamous cell removed Tuesday (2nd
attempt, this one successful).

Recovery was going well. Moderate to semi-severe pain in the sutured area.
A couple of my migraine meds let me sleep for an hour or so, followed by an
equal period of being awake.

Today, about an hour before I was to remove the pressure bandage and start
the cleanup, started getting shooting pain in the swollen area. Called dr,
they said to go ahead and remove the bandage and start that process. (part
of which was the peroxide/water mix for cleaning). The pain, which I had
described to the dr's office at 7-8 is now at least 9. several bouts of
profuse tears, not normal for me.

I have been lying down with the newly covered area, with ice packs.
Swelling is going down but I cannot drop off - even with the assist of
codeine.

When I described the state to the dr's office, the reply was to check for
infection, pus, off smell, and the like. None of that present - just a
heightened pain level.

Don't think anything is really out-of-bounds on this, just can't rest, a
vital component.

Off to try again, really need to sleep a little.

I was kidding a bit earlier about trying to get the surgeon to make the
incision look like a Heidelberg dueling fraternity scar. From the length of
it, he may have succeeded, even without the overt suggestion.
