[Magdalen] A prayer, please

Welcome Arthur. You have my prayers. I am a long time member here, but
posting less often in the last year. I have a geodesic dome for sale on a
small lake in Michigan. You could pray for its sale.

I am married to an Episcopal priest who at 85 still works every Sunday. We
have 4 sons, the oldest is chancellor of our diocese. This past week-end
we visited a grandson in Chicago. He is newly enrolled at Roosevelt
University and a baseball player. RU's urban campus is a huge culture
shock for him. Classes and baseball will be the comfortable parts of his
life.

We also visited my favorite Episcopal church ever, St. Paul and the
Redeemer. For their 10 am service they had to add extra seating and ran
out of bulletins. There had been a shooting/killing on the usually quiet
corner where the church is. The rector preached a phenomenal sermon.

There was great music from diverse cultures, African drumming at the gospel
procession; familiar hymn tunes Ton-Y-Botel and Tidings; Leaning on the
Everlasting Arms; chanted psalm. All well done. The service included lots
of announcements. No one appeared to be in a hurry to leave.

As we drove back to Michigan I said to Bill (my husband) "What would it
take to be there every Sunday?" Too bad we can't afford a pied a terre in
Chicago.
