Not a question of royal names, but I am reminded about  the
penchant for calling female thespians "actors," and eschewing
"actresses."
 
In my mind there has never been anything second-rate or demeaning
about the term, "actress."  It's a perfectly good term.  Why not  use it?
 
Then we get into such as "mediatrix" and "aviatrix."  I can see  some
might be bothered by these rather fussy terms.
