Yes, and the diocesan representative assures us that the diocese has
no designs on the money. It's controlled by the parish, as far as I
know. One of the endowments started as a $1 million gift to the parish
from one of its long-term rectors. He did well in investing. The gift
that keeps on giving.

Someone at the parish meeting suggested the diocese just wants the $20
million he estimated our buildings, land, and funds are worth added
up. The diocesan rep said in fact the diocese has just raised $20
million the regular way -- through a capital campaign -- and has no
need or desire to close parishes and grab money.
