Remember that the Trinity Book Sale will take any books out of your hands, not just the theological ones. 

I've been downsizing for the last 2 years, trying to fit my life into a small apartment. Getting rid of the books has been the most difficult thing. But it had to be done. 

My fiction books have mostly gone to our building library, others will go to the Public Library Book Sale. The theological and church stuff has gone to my parish. who maintain a small but well organized collection. I'm down to 3 large BILLY bookcases with height extenders and 3 narrow BILLY bookcases with height extenders. The extenders make them floor to ceiling in my <450 sq ft. apartment. I've kept hardcovers, biography and my collection of books on the Royal Family, collected since I was 8. I've also kept some childhood books, a small collection of Bibles and family prayerbooks, and a set of Dorothy L. Sayers hardcover mysteries. My new Kindle Paperwhite holds current and favourite fiction.

Keep some of the bookcases -- I've regretted giving mine away and having to replace them. When you get to wherever you settle, buy height extenders. They look good and give you more room. Meanwhile, offer those not needed on Craigslist/Freecycle, or to a church library -- I suspect they will be snapped up.
