Except it really stinks terribly when cooked. We has Korean Methodist (not to
be confused with UMC or any other Methodist you ever heard of <g>)Congregation
using our church in Bay Ridge, and they'd sometimes be cooking this in
preparation for the dinners they;d serve their members after their service.
We had one particular supply priest who would preach for 45 minutes or more on
all manner of things Episcopalians tend to dismiss (dispensationalism for one,
millennialism for another) and by the time Communion came, the Kimchi smell
would be pervasive, and some of our members would get quite ill and not even try
to approach.
That Congregation left when we called a full time priest because their hopes to
"buy" the property at a fire sale price when we "went out of business" were
dashed by new life in the place.
The Koreans were also the people who decorated the front doors with Christmas
Lights and a Santa, Reindeer and Sleigh one year, until an emergency meeting of
the vestry ordered it removed (done by our Sexton).
Cheers,
Jim
