[Magdalen] How cold is cold?

It's up to -19F now after a nighttime low of -27. Thankfully, that's about
as cold as it gets here all winter.
The woodstove is going, no frozen pipes, life is good.

Second day of no school in Chicago because of the extreme cold.
Looking forward to a warming trend (30!) in a couple of days. I've got
vacation starting next Tuesday. Not planning to show up at the beach
in a Speedo (don't even try to imagine...I can't) but would enjoy not
freezing to death and being able to get away from apartment and
especially computer.

Seven weeks of vacation this year! The HR system at work benevolently
carried over two weeks instead of the expected one week from 2014. I
won't point this out to HR. :) I regard the HR system as the single
source of truth in this case.
