I have a question here, whether the timing of the incident may be
relevant. Gregg Bernstein was defeated in the primary for Baltimore
City State's Attorney in June so knew his time in office would end in
January. Marilyn Mosby was duly elected in November and took office in
the past few days. This was bound to be a high-profile case and there
is a certain sense in the defeated incumbent leaving it to his successor
to handle it as she has said "as any other case".
