Prayers rising!

My older granddaughter was a meconium birth, with seriously messed-up
lungs, and spent a few days in the NICU with pneumonia in an isolette on
oxygen. Under those circumstances, she and her mother didn't properly
bond for breast-feeding (which my daughter had planned to do), though
she did get her colostrum and early breast milk from a pump and a
bottle. But then her mother dried up because of the difficult
circumstances. And then they discovered that the baby was sensitive to
any sort of milk protein, including soy milk. She spent her infancy on
an extremely expensive medical formula. Whether or not the milk
sensitivity was a result of the birth circumstances, I don't know, but
her younger sister had neither problem. She did eventually grow out of
the dairy problem, but it took a long time, until she was in school.
Now she's totally normal (other than being abnormally bright, and
abnormally stubborn). A rocky start can work out just fine.
