My mother got those, though I haven't (yet), and I'm only a year younger 
than she was when she died.  My dad never did, though he was three years 
older than she was, and on daily aspirin for his heart.  When they 
started with my mom, I told her that she should take extra Vitamin C to 
strengthen her blood vessels, and it did seem to help.  She was getting 
fewer, and less extensive.  Dad died of a heart attack, and a month 
later Mom perforated an ulcer.  Kind of ironic, considering the aspirin. 
  But Mom was such a worrier and a stress-er, it was almost predictable 
that she'd stress herself to death.
