The French invasion of Anglo Saxon is probably unique in that roughly
50% of the English language vobaculary is of French origin. That happened,
along with other factors on the fact that French was the conquerors'
language and
French became official for the courts, business, and all important
communication.
Spanish doesn't have that preeminence over English, but its impact still
could be very great over time, at least in the USA.
The other important impact on Anglo Saxon was the Norse language,
especially
in the north and east of Britain.
