Indeed. My father rather grudgingly admitted in his later years that he had
reason to believe his scoutmaster, a man he greatly respected and loved,
was more than likely gay, "but of course, in those days nobody would dare
say anything, least of all him." This was in the late 1920s-early 1930s.
Obviously it did not affect the man's ability to be a good leader and a
terrific scoutmaster.
