The same argument has been used in regard to church choirs, that when
girls are admitted boys drift away. A complicating factor here is that
girls may well be allowed to stay in the choir beyoind the age at which
boys' voices break so the girls can deliver greater power at the higher
notes. The argument is that the loss of the boys means that they will
not then mature into becoming the men's section of a church choir.>>>>>

The problem getting male singers in any kind of USA choir is that men
don't sing in the USA unless they are onstage with a guitar. It isn't
that they have been in choirs and have had the shock of the voice
changing.

In my own instance, for example, coming from a musical family, I started
singing in the local Methodist choir (SATB) at the age of five. I can
still remember the shock for me and for the choir director when I went
from alto to bass in about a week.

Interesting things those hormones!
