Thanks, all. I've put in my reservation for Win10, but one thing does concern me. The site says Win10 doesn't support the WMD player and will, in fact disable it, with no replacement at present. So I take that to mean I will have no way to play DVD s or music files for the foreseeable future. Is that correct? So, what are folks doing in the meantime?

I'd recommend upgrading to Windows 10.

For clearing up useless files and de fragging, I'd recommend CCleaner and Defraggler, both fro Piriform software. Google "CCleaner" to find their site. Download the free versions and uncheck any options to add a toolbar. I use CCleaner almost daily to clean my hard disk files and Windows registry, and Defraggler is scheduled to run at night when fragmentation has reached a certain percentage.

I've had this computer ever since Win8 came out--whenever that was--and I've never done any of that. What would folks recommend?
