I have been reading a book of articles on the Dead Sea Scrolls, edited by
Herschel Schanks, founder and editor of Biblical Archaeology Review (which
first published most of the articles), _Understanding the Dead Sea
Scrolls_.

Best show in town for its subject area. Not afraid of going into detail
and not afraid to look at two or more sides of the story. It was actually
published in the early nineties, but still reads well. The lives of the
writers certainly have not changed very much, and the texts remain pretty
much as they were ;=) ...
I expect to finish this by 2017 if I'm diligent.
