I had a co-worker one time who, when presented with a line like that would
remark in a gravelly low voice, "Jim and Ann? Damned suspicious if you ask me."

Sometimes it was very funny. But some others took real offense. And in some of
the latter cases, did so because they were actually cheating on their spouses
and were sensitive to the idea that anyone would find out.
