With great joy I wanted to share with you all that on Sunday I was ordained to the sacred order of priests at the church where I married my husband, where my children were baptized, and where the services for my mother were held and where she is inurned. I know some of you have seen pictures on Facebook but in case you don't use Facebook is a link:

It was a wonderful day and so many people showed up to celebrate with me, including some of the youth (now young adults) that I have worked with in the past. Even my father came, who I have struggled to get along with in the years since my mother died, so that meant the world to me. My oldest son, Mike (19) chanted the Litany and directed the youth choir that included my youngest (15) son Thomas.

I'm pretty sure I dripped tears of joy into each piece of bread I served.

In case you wonder about the reception photos...the parish began a Harry Potter VBS the next day, so the Parish Hall was set up as the Great Hall from the books/movies. It was fitting, since I'd served as Christian Formation Director there for a decade and had done HP VBS as well as several other book themed VBS over the years.

The day after the ordination my oldest took off for Salt Lake City to serve as one of the lay deputies for Iowa - so if any pubmates are there, be on the lookout for my beautiful red headed boy and introduce yourself. He is serving on the drug and alcohol legislative committee. I'm sad to miss GC this year, as I usually accompany youth from our diocese for 4-5 days of it, but am looking forward to beginning as Interim Rector at St. Peter's, Bettendorf on Wednesday.

Blessings,
