Jim
I am glad I have it wrong. Forgive me
But how do you justify selling off a church building against the wishes of
the congregation, given that the church was well on the road to recovery of
worshippers?
In the 60-s a friend of mine, the late Canon Malcolm Widdacombe was put
in as Curate in Charge at Pip and Jay in Bristol to tide it over until the
Bishop could close it down as it had falling numbers and wasn't paying its
way.
He and others got on their knees and prayed and within 10 years it was a
flagship church for the Diocese meeting its quota and give £10K to mission
annually.
