It was also the day when our Common Worship became legal in 2000 and, I 
believe, the ASB in 1980.  The earlier forms of liturgical revision 
continued to be authorised for a little after ASB came out but with 
Common Worship the ASB was no longer authorised after the end of 2000 so 
transition had to happen quickly even thouggh the final text had only 
been approved in July that year due to disagreements on translation of 
one word in the Creed.  It would have been so much better had they 
simply accepted the agreed ICET translation.  The joys of fine detail 
liturgical revision by Synod.

As for the latest version of the English RC Mass, Advent Sunday 2011 was 
when it had to be used but some churches used it before then as I 
attended a couple of masses where that happened.
