Places where plowed snow is piled and stored (often underused parking lots but more often abandoned wharves or large empty lots) are called "snow farms" here. They used to just shove the stuff into the Charles River or into the harbor, but now the snow is so contaminated with chemicals from road salt & automobile oil etc. they have to store it away from the water. -M
