In this case the parents had apparently taken the required instruction, so even that wasn't an issue.

The need for carechesis is the only reason in the Church of England for
deferring baptism. The Catechism of the Catholic Church specifies that
delay or denial of baptism is a delay or denial of God's grace which
should be bestowed as soon as possible after birth. Catechesis can
occur after baptism.
