[Magdalen] praying for Capers...

We prayed for Capers just now at Compline at St. Andrew's, Florence,
Oregon. I had not read Ginga's post yet.

Mother Christy Brothers was such a help to me when I was going through
"the process." We communicated often off the Magdalen list, and she,
who had just been ordained a priest, was so encouraging to me when the
way seemed unnecessarily hard, and some personalities persnickety.
Before I was ordained, she had died of cancer. She said only one
regretful thing...that she was not sure what purpose her ordination
had served. I did not have the chance to respond to her that her
pastoral encouragement had meant more to me than I could ever say, for
one small thing. I trust she knew.

Capers was similarly encouraging when I was going "through the
process," and from visiting with her, I knew how much her presence
encouraged and gave hope to so many Christians. Her ministry, her
poetry, her shared life with Walter, and her stories of "The Boy" Adam
(who was kind enough to eat lunch with us ladies that day in
Charleston) as well as her other wonderful children brought many
smiles.

Dear friend, if we are privileged to follow you, leave the light on for us.
