the bridge was build when I was a child... I still remember taking the car 
ferry across so we could drive the length of the UP into Duluth and on to 
my grandparents (on dad's side) who lived 90 miles west of there in Grand 
Rapids MN.

somewhere I have 8mm film of my dad leaning out of the car taking pictures 
of 'the bridge' the first year it was in operation - mom driving, of course
