Well, meat comes from animals, no? So how could beans be considered 
meat???????????

The confusion with tomatoes comes, I think, because other fruits grow on 
perennial plants, while tomatoes, like vegetables, are annuals. At least, 
they're grown that way.

When I was taught from childhood (Four Food Groups era) that their protein 
content made them meat.  You don't, by any chance, think tomatoes are 
vegetables, hmm?  :-)=
