Most of the series isn't fun in the way the Last Night is. There are
some "lollipops" (popular pieces) but they are often on the same
programme as other pieces which are less well-known and which require
serious listening to. Overall there is a wide range of styles, periods
and composers in the 76 concerts, sometimes two on one day and some
preceded by a supporting event across the road in the Royal College of
Music.

Generally theere will be some world premieres of specially commissioned
pieces. The overall aim might be said to spread awareness of, and
support for, classical music among all ages. For the serious musician
there is a cornucopea of offerings at modest prices, particularly if
they are willing to stand either on the floor of the auditoium or right
up in the Gods (avoid if you have the slightest trace of vertigo),
played to a very high standard.
