Well, it *was* Saturday afternoon, Sibyl, and I don't know about where you
live, but here it's a heavy duty grocery shopping time.

The deal about young Hispanic men shopping in groups is kind of like
college students shopping in groups. They generally come up here to work
and they tend to live in groups of 4-6 in apartments or sometimes mobile
homes. Most of them are pretty nice kids and a lot of them are homesick as
hell. I learned a long time ago when I lived in Tennessee that if you're
even the least bit nice to them they will knock themselves out to be polite
and nice to you. I had a few of them as patients and they were generally
easy to take care of unless they happened to be drunk, and then they were
six kinds of apologetic when they sobered up. Anyway, they're kind of funny
when they're shopping and arguing over what to buy and who's cooking. I
understand enough Spanish to get that if I eavesdrop. It sounds a lot like
the kids from campus.
