[Magdalen] Grumpy greeter

Well, isn't that special. I lost my patience with a fellow parishioner
today as I greeted folks in the narthex after Mass. (Subdeacon
typically helps greet.) Just one too many complaints. The one that set
me off was "Glad you were subdeacon today instead of N. who can't
chant." I said, "I trained N., and somebody barked at him after the
first time he served, complaining about his chanting. No one else will
ever step up to do anything around here because of the constant
complaining." Then I vanished to the sacristy, probably a good move as
I think I might have gotten louder and attracted attention.

So I suppose I have to apologize now to that parishioner but I don't
want to (and I was sick of hearing the same guy's complaint about the
hymn tempo...complain to the organist, for crying out loud). Sort of
had with our parish's culture of complaint. Everyone's got to have an
opinion about everything, and too many come to church to look for
things to complain about.

Something to bring up in therapy...thank God I've got that. Emotional
ups and downs lately. Downs, mainly (although mild, they're annoying).
Sorry again for how these have shown up in my Pub participation
lately.
