I was thinking about this a few weeks ago, and there's an assumption
there that may not be solid.

A situation that I think could be intriguing were if Biden were offered
the VP position for the first term of the next president, and then have
the president choose a new veep for their second campaign/term.
Depending on the political situation at the time (the 2020 campaign),
that could be trying to find support in new places to ensure reelection
or it could be a choice with an eye to who should run for president in
2024.
