Twenty-five years ago, +Wantland was Eau Claire, and a notorious
opponent of OW.  One of the daughters of a prominent Eau Claire
family, and who grew up in the Cathedral congregation had been
priested in the nearby Diocese of Minnesota.  No woman had ever
celebrated at the Cathedral until +Wantland traveled out of country
on one of his numerous trips.  The Cathedral Dean, a strong  supporter
of OW invited her to celebrate to a packed house.  It was the  mice
play while the cat's away.
 
+Wantland returned, and was furious, but the deed had been done.
 
+Wantland retired six months later, and the new +Eau Claire brought
the Eau Claire Diocese into TEC fold on the OW issue.
