I think that over 50 those kind of "tricks" don't work for eye training. OTOH a friend started doing eye exercises after an needs-glasses eye exam in his early teens. And in his 70 now has never needed glasses for distance - both parents and all siblings were/are nearsighted (and that is hereditary) so I'm thinking strengthening eye muscles works for some people if they start early and keep it up

My left eye is worse than the right one (near-sighted, both). For my current (circa 2007) lenses the doc opted, because the difference was slight, to not alter the prescription for the worse one, in an attempt to "trick" it to more or less adjust itself accordingly for the better. The trick didn't work. Each eye will be catered to separately this time around.
