I happened into my old Saint Paul, MN parish (Saint Paul's  on-the-Hill)
now closed.  They were about to begin MP, so I remained.  The  officiant,
a layman, had a pronounced Oxbridge Accent.  After the service,  I
engaged him in some informal conversation, and was startled to hear  an
Upper Midwestern Accent.
 
I couldn't help but ask about the British Accent.  He said it "seemed  to 
make
