Joan and I could never understand why a Provost of Wakefield retired to
a converted tithe barn on the outskirts of a village outside Scarborough
when his wife had health issues. Yes, we have both always lived in
urban areas but we realized the importance, particularly as one ages, of
being within easy reach of medical care, shops and public transportation.
