The journey to Heathrow was a bit fraught with the volume of traffic causing a lot of stop-start but I arrived at the airport about an hour later than planned.  Passage through security was smooth so an hour later still I was sitting having breakfast air-side in the terminal.
A bit of turbulence mid-flight aThe nd a distinct lack of land to see until approaching the US-Canadian border. The food and wine on BA is much better than I experienced last year on United. The passage through Immigration was the easiest I have experienced in my five trips to the USA. Perhaps it helped having just washed my hands but the machine read my finger-prints quite quickly (only four fingers of right hand this time) and I remembered to take my spectacles off before it took my picture and printed out my receipt. A few questions from the officer as he stamped my passport and I was on my way to baggage reclaim and out of the door 50 minutes after wheels down, which included the long taxi to Terminal 5
Outside the terminal it is clearly construction season as I waited for the hotel shuttle.  An early night as my body was refusing to stay awake after what would have been midnight at home, byt which time I had been up for 19 hours, then fitful sleep for the second half of the night, which is why I am writing this so early in the morning over my second cup of coffee.
