[Magdalen] Third World Country?

For the second time in about ten days, there was a power
outage (outrage?) in this region.  It lasted about two hours.
The official word was that a "fuse had blown."
 
By an improbable coincidence the cable (TV,computers, and telephones)
blew, this time secondary to a "tractor-trailer" tearing down the  cable
lines for this region.  That outage (outrage?) lasted about ten  hours,
mostly because there was an electrical storm and heavy rain when the
cable company was attempting repairs, and, of course, the repair team
couldn't work in the rain and lightning.
 
I wish I had invested in an electrical generator some time ago, but
the $6,000 or so price tag is daunting.  
 
I makes one realized once again how thoroughly dependent we are
on electrical power and the gadgets it runs.
