The Durufle is one of my favorite things in the world. The In
Paradisum would definitely be part of my Fantasy Funeral line

The funeral of the late Mason Martens, chant music consultant for
TEC '82 Hymnal, held at his parish church, Saint Luke in the Fields,
Manhattan, was the most beautiful such event I've ever seen
personally. Saint Luke Church pulled out all the stops, with a full
(augmented) choir singing mostly the music Mason had arranged
except for the final In Paradisium. Instead this was his favorite, the
Durufle, and as the casket was slowly rolled out down the main aisle,
the last chord hung and whispered away as the church door closed
behind it. It was electrifying.
The Liturgy was a Solemn High Mass in gold vestments.
His good friend, Howard Galley, liturgical consultant for TEC '79
Prayer Book died a couple of months later. He specifically requested
an old fashioned Requiem in black vestments at the same Saint Luke
in the Fields, his parish church. He would have none of the "Mass of
the Resurrection." Saint Luke's accommodated him, of course.
Can you imagine the poor clergy who had to deal in life with those
two (Mason Martens and Howard Galley) at the parish level?
