Last wednesday (Nov 30), daughter Sam drove me to the emergency room -
extreme shortness of breath. Upon investigation, it turned out to be a
"massive" pulmonary embolism. (Yes, family members have been plagued with
this problem through the years and generations).

Spent Wednesday and Thursday in the ICU, then was stepped down as my vitals
have been rock solid, if low.

I have been in a "regular room" since Friday. Yesterday the wall oxygen and
IV heparin were removed. No more bedside commode! There was a chance that I
could go home today!  I remain wired for telemetric heart monitoring.

Unfortunately, I just failed my walk-around test by going into atrial
fibrillation. Awaiting the next step. Disappointed. Even so: I am where I
need to be; I am being treated very, very well; I am very grateful at a
number of levels.
