[Magdalen] Phone number information?

I got a note from my daughter asking me not to use 411 for information on my phone, because each use costs $2. I had no idea it wasn't free. She said I should use Safari. I tried that for a couple of people, and all I got was their FB pages.
She can't tell me what else to do, says she hasn't used Information in about 15 years.
So...what do others do when they need a phone number that isn't in the phone book?
