[Magdalen] Christmas Trees

My sister-in-law & her husband (who is from Germany) had lit candles on
their tree - at least when their kids were small. Dunno if they still do it.
Just got back from getting our Christmas tree - a big (~20') balsam fir
which was growing in back of the greenhouse and was starting to shade the
garden. I cut it down, and then cut off the top 9 feet or so, which I'll
use. Now the task is to clear a space indoors for it. <g>
It's definitely an advantage to live where balsam firs grow wild in such
profusion - we have many well over 50' tall, plus lots of smaller ones too.
Why pay for a live tree when there are so many growing right outside your
door?
Definitely a white Christmas here, with at least 8" on the ground right now.

I think we've always been horrified at their real candles on a dead tree.
