Oops, sorry - this new gmail app has me confused.

Thanks Molly and everyone for the prayer pats which are definitely
helping...Jay you are in my prayers too, for all the inner agonies.

Being gifted with a leisurely morning after attending Midnight Mass
yesterday (nice service, rousing rendition of Hallelujah Chorus to end from
our organist, invasion of other less lovely choruses contained to one
Tomlin and one Kendrick, both tolerable) - I started googling and soon
found a couple of sites dedicated to understanding gut bacteria and all the
amazing things they do for and to us.

Also unfortunately to very strict Paleo diets that I probably won't be able
to live with, but...

I turns out there's a war zone in there, and I'm fairly sure that if I'd
obeyed my locum doctor's instructions I would have been fit for hospital by
now. Cut stomach acid - are you nuts?? Limit gut motility - yikes!!

Suffice it to say that I have now learned how to massage and to put an ice
pack on my "ileo-cecal valve" as Americans call it, and - astoundingly - it
has helped a great deal.

I am hopeful that the imbalance doesn't go much further above this point
and can be corrected but am being very careful with the probiotics for now.

Tomorrow I will head for the shops and buy some garlic capsules (I have the
real thing at home of course but am not brave enoough to start swallowing
by the spoonful). I'll also get some chlorophyll if available and some
herbal antibiotics, maybe also some soothing stuff like slippery elm which
makes me feel better just saying the name.

My beloved sister, currently holidaying in Sydney, has her prescription pad
with her (I hadn't even hoped for that!) and will send a prescription for a
real antibiotic that will take out protozoa, though it seems they are hard
to get rid of completely.

I also learned that gut bacteria are very capable of messing with our
brains causing everything from brain fog to mood disorders, who knew. and
that our gut sweeps its own house if only we'll leave enough of a gap
between eating things.

Truly I tell you, list friends, we contain multitudes, even though we
hardly know who they are or what they mean. NASA wants to land a person on
an asteroid and good for them but there is so much right here on Earth that
we haven't in the least bit understood.
